- Slightly Sinister

The long anticipated stained glass video is finally here! There is an insane amount of information in this video, which is why it's 45 minutes long! I will understand if you have to take this one in chunks... I talk a lot!
Speaking of speaking... my voice is a little crunchy still, but I couldn't wait for it to fully clear up. Having this video on the to-do list was driving me batty, so I really really really appreciate you all for being patient while I rested up enough to get the voiceovers done.
This is an absolutely fantastic video to get you started with stained glass. There are some more stained glass skills to be learned, but I will save those lessons for next year. If you have any questions at all, ask away!
Project Supply List:
BASICS:
Glass Scoring Tool (Nice breaking ball)
Running and Grozer Pliers (Pliers I use the most)
Hakko Soldering Iron (Good brand)
or
Sal ammoniac block (if you're soldering lead-free this is a necessity)
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment):
Cut Resistant Gloves (Not necessary, but can help if you find you are clumsy)
Safety Glasses (DO IT)
Smoke Extractor (Optional to help suck fumes away from your face while soldering)
PATTERN TRANSFER:
• Printable Vinyl (Any brand, just make sure your printer will work with it. Some types won't allow the ink to sink into the paper)
• Metallic Markers (Shows up great on glass, slightly thicker line than desired)
GLASS CUTTING:
Waffle Grid (Only if you care about shredding your hands)
Glass Scoring Tool (Nice fat breaking ball *** The expensive cutter from Hobby Lobby is my other favorite)
Running and Grozer Pliers (Pliers I use the most)
Silberschnitt Pliers (meh, not necessary)
Safety Glasses (DO IT)
Cut Resistant Gloves (Optional)
Grinder (less expensive option)
Grinder (more expensive option)
1/8 inch grinding bit (check to make sure they will work with your grinder)
1/4 inch grinding bit (check to make sure they will work with your grinder)
FOILING: (Edco is my preferred brand, but other brands work too)
SOLDERING:
Hakko Soldering Iron (More expensive Iron, but worth it if you are going to get into this)
or
Sal ammoniac block (For re-tinning your soldering iron)
Heat Resistant Homasote Board (Fancy surface for soldering)
Layout Block System (What the pro's use to hold square/rectangular works together)
Smoke Extractor (sucks fumes away from your face while you are soldering)
CLEANING:
PATINA/POLISH:
GLASS:
Oceanside is a good brand of glass. Usually not too expensive and can be found on Amazon. Try searching for a local glass shop, buying anything colored online might get you something you aren’t really happy with. The brand that Hobby Lobby sells cant give you some sketchy results, so you’ve been warned!
Academy tier, you have four stained glass templates waiting for you in the Academy Vault
