Wildcard: Ichabod’s Illusion

A new change this year: public and free members can now see details about each Slightly Sinister Secret Society (SSSSociety) Wildcard. Since it doesn’t reveal too many secrets, I figured there’s no harm in showcasing what SSSSociety members receive. Here’s what they got in the mail for February!

A large part of the Slightly Sinister Secret Society is adulation of every aspect of spooky lore. The primal literary works, music, and stories that surrounds all of the modern adaptations and films we run to when we want to indulge our dark side. Sleepy Hollow is a cornerstone of that ritual, in all of its various versions and forms. This wildcard pays homage to its longstanding fandom.

I have replicated for you, in detail, Ichabod Crane’s illusion spinner that we often see him twiddling with in Tim Burton’s film adaptation of the Washington Irving short story Sleepy Hollow. We see him spinning it while deep in thought during his bumpy carriage-ride to the Van Garrett farms, located up the Hudson River in Upstate New York. Catrina Van Garrett is shown the illusion later in the film and declares Ichabod a wizard.
