Spirit Week 2025 Cryptid Chronicles

🎉 Get Ready for the Academy of Crafts Spirit Week! 🎉

February 16th - 22nd

This year, we venture deep into legends and lore, where creatures lurk, and mysteries unfold. The week will be packed with interactive challenges, creative projects, and immersive activities, all themed around cryptids, folklore, and things that go bump in the night! A detailed post will be published every day concerning that day's events, but here’s what’s in store:

🔍 Sunday (Day 1): The Annual Scavenger Hunt – "Tracking the Chupacabra"

Kick off Spirit Week with an adventure through your town as you hunt for signs of the legendary Chupacabra. Complete cryptid-themed photo challenges to earn points for your Crafting Guild.

🕵️‍♀️ How It Works:

• A list of cryptid-themed scavenger hunt tasks will be posted the morning of day 1.

• Complete as many as you can and submit your findings before time runs out!

🎨 Monday (Day 2): Dreadful Doodles – Rookie Sketch Artists

A cryptid has been spotted, and it’s your job to capture its likeness, but here’s the catch: you’re a rookie police sketch artist working off a panicked eyewitness report!

👁️ How It Works:

• “sketch” what the eyewitness describes.

• Your art doesn’t have to be good, it’s all about creativity and humor!

• Share your cryptid sketch on the Slightly Sinister Spirit Week forum, or in the public Discord "public-chat" channel, tagging with #DreadfulDoodles2025 to earn points for your Crafting Guild or tier.

• Sketches must be submitted and tagged before midnight on the last day of Spirit Week for points.

🖤 It doesn't matter if your sketch is terrifyingly accurate or hilariously off the mark, we can’t wait to see your cryptid creations!

🧠 Tuesday (Day 3): Trivia Night – "Legends & Lore"

Do you know your Mothman from your Fresno Nightcrawlers? Can you recall which lake hides the most infamous monster? It’s time to test your cryptid knowledge in a Slightly Sinister Spirit Week trivia showdown!

👁️ LIVE EVENT How to Participate:

• A live trivia session will be hosted in the Slightly Sinister public voice chat channel. https://discord.gg/Ph6V9GSGfS

  • The event will start @ 6:00PM CST

• Answer cryptid and various-themed questions to prove your lore expertise.

• Points will be earned for each question answered as a group and added to your designated Crafting Guild, or tier specific pot.

  • Channel answer assignments:

    • Public participants will answer in the "trivianight" chat channel

    • Children of the Corn will answer in the private "Children-of-the-corn" channel

    • Academy Students will be answering in their private guild chat channels (Fliddermause, Lycanholdt, Hissenskratch, Spyndlebough)

🕯️ Wednesday (Day 4): Candlelight Craft-A-Long – "Messages from Mothman"

On day four of Spirit Week, as is our tradition, we gather for a beginner friendly craft-a-long, and invite the public to join in. This year in the candlelight's glow we will dive into the art of linocut printmaking and muse about one of the most infamous cryptids, Mothman.

🎬 Thursday (Day 5): Movie Night – "Tremors"

Grab your popcorn, a flashlight, and maybe something to keep your feet off the floor, because tonight, we’re watching a classic from the 1990's that evokes the massive, blood-red Mongolian Death Worm that allegedly lurks beneath the sands of the Gobi Desert.

  • The movie will begin @ 6:00PM CST

• Discuss, react, and speculate about underground cryptids in the chat as we watch.

•  Throw a message announcing your presence in the chat and earn 1 Guild point.

🌲 Friday (Day 6): Winter Walk in the Woods – "The Kansas City Winged Demon"

For decades, rumors have circulated about a shadowy figure soaring over Kansas City. Witnesses describe a massive, winged creature with leathery bat-like wings and a creepy man-face. Some say they saw it perched atop buildings, watching. Others swear it followed them through the trees. Will I encounter this hideous stalker on my brisk winter walk on the outskirts of the city? Only one way to find out!

👁️ How to Participate:

• Join the YouTube livestream as we take a nighttime stroll through a wooded area in search of signs of the Kansas City Winged Demon.

• Engage in live chat to earn a guild point: share your thoughts, theories, and any sightings you may notice during the walk, or ask a currently Slightly Sinister member what exactly is going on...

🔮 Saturday (Day 7): Academy Information & Guild Reveal – "Unlocking the Future"

We close out Spirit Week with a look ahead, and a video celebration of returning Academy members, unveiling the new skill badges, and unlocking Guild-specific surprises!
